Account Type and Paid Ads
-
If I have a basic account, an unpaid account, am I not permitted to accept advertising?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
no account short of the VIP hosting that starts around $ 30,000/ year will let you sell your own ads
if you have a custom domain name, you can apply to the WordAds program, it is a revenue sharing program – but you still can’t sell your own ads
-
Companies are approaching me and asking if I can put one or two of their ads on my site. They are not my ads. Unless I have a custom domain, I cannot allow this, right?

We do have an advertising program called WordAds, which you can read more about here:
Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed. For full details, please see:
http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. Please see this link to learn about the differences:
We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested:
