Account upgrade
-
Hi, this is from Sandnes library in Norway. We have been using WordPress since August 2013 and we would now like to upgrade our account (and pick the business plan). There is a problem with the payment method, however. Even though we are a relatively big cultural institution, we, as a library, do not have access to any credit card. This makes it apparently impossible for us to upgrade our account the usual way where you simply put your credit card details and make the whole thing happen. So we would like to ask you, as politely as we can, if it would be possible for you to send us an invoice with payment details so that we could upgrade our account without credit card.
Thanks in advance!
All the best from Norway!

Hello!
Very sorry for the inconvenience here. For payment we cannot provide invoices nor accept any payments in checks, cash, purchase or money orders, or any payment that must be mailed. We also cannot accept payment over the phone.
Since you do not have access to a credit or debit card, we’d recommend setting up an account with Paypal. You can transfer funds into a Paypal account directly from your banking institution. After your account is ready, when checking out here on WordPress.com, select Paypal as your payment option.
Paypal typically requires have a credit card on file for recurring-purchases, so it will not allow you set up Auto-Renew in this manner. You’ll need to manually renew the Business Plan each year.
Best,

Thanks for your quick reply, Alex! As said previously, we would like to purchase this business plan, but before we do that, we would like to know some more details on how useful this option would be for us. We are for example wondering if our library logo could be used for the updated version of the blog. Another thing is if it was possible to somehow have our library search engine (the search box) as a part of the new account/blog (you can see it here: http://websok.mikromarc.no/Mikromarc3/sandnes/default.aspx?db=sandnes-fb&unit=6471).
So please, let us know more about the business plan.
Thanks again and have a nice weekend!

Hi again!
There’s a great chart to compare Free / Premium / Business sites here:
https://wordpress.com/plans/compare
The Business plan gives you pretty much every feature we have to offer and opens up a lot of possibilities. But your specific questions would actually be the same on a Business site as they are on your free site.
We are for example wondering if our library logo could be used for the updated version of the blog.
This sort of function is the same either with a free site or on the business plan, because it’s determined by your theme. To make sure you can include your logo prominently, you’ll want to use a theme either with the Custom Header or Site Logo feature. Here’s a list of themes that meet that requirement:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/custom-header/
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/site-logo/
Another thing is if it was possible to somehow have our library search engine (the search box) as a part of the new account/blog (you can see it here: http://websok.mikromarc.no/Mikromarc3/sandnes/default.aspx?db=sandnes-fb&unit=6471).
Actually integrating your library’s search engine into the site would not be possible even with the Business plan. I could see it being possible using a plugin on a self-hosted site, but the best suggestion I could offer on WordPress.com is add a link into a Widget, which when clicked goes to your already setup search engine at http://websok.mikromarc.no/Mikromarc3/sandnes/default.aspx?db=sandnes-fb&unit=6471
You can add links into Widgets either with text, or by adding an Image widget and adjusting its “Link URL” setting.
Best,
-Alex G.
