Hi Everyone, I feel like I am about to ask a very stupid question but I need some help…
I started a blog a few years ago and haven’t done much with it for a while. I wanted to start to get back into it but don’t seem to have a wordpress.org account. I do however, have a wordpress.com account. However, my blog is externally hosted by HostGator, so based on everything I have read about the differences between the two – I feel like this means that I should have a wordpress.org account, not .com. I just can’t remember what I did when I set it up.
Is anyone able to explain to me what is going on? Thanks in advance. Kate

This is WordPress.com. If your site is hosted by Hostgator you’ll originally have set up an account to log in to your site there. It will be using the wordpress software which is different to the modified wordpress software used on sites hosted here at WordPress.com. If you need support for your site it will require you registering an account at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
That forum has no connection with this particular forum you are using now.
PS: Having said all that, you appear to have the JetPack plugin installed on your self hosted site. That adds a number of features and allows you to access your site via this particular WordPress.com account. However if you need support for your site you do need to visit the other forum rather than this one.
