Acess to all posts of one country on wordpress.

As you may be aware, blogger has been blocked by India by the govt.
Virtually all blogs hve been blocked. Is there anyway one can have accesbility
to all the India centric blogs on wordpress. I typed Indian blogs in the search but
nothing happened. This facility was there is blogger and should be there in wordpress
as it is better than blogger in so many ways. Kindly let me know if there is a way.

I know how to do it through technorati but there again I will come across a lot of
    blogger sites.

I know for a fact that a lot of Indians have shifted to wordpress and there should be some facility of direct access to them. Its good for the growth of both the individual
    blogger and wordpress.

i am not aware of that – why is blogger blocked?

sorry i can’t answer your question but if you wait in a bit someone will…

Currently (I believe) the only way to do this is through this page:

    Top Blogs

Down the left are various languages. Perhaps you could use that to highlight appropriate blogs?

The only way would be if the bloggers themselves were to tag their blogs as what county they are coming from. Since WP.com doesn’t collect any information about the user while Blogger does, there’s no way to present that non-existant information.

Best bet would be cornell’s solution.

You may also want to check over at Blogshares as well as they try to index blogs.

Thanks a lot for your help, guys. Nice to bump into Cornell and Dr Mike after so much
time. Hope you are fine. Unfortunately at blogshares, it is not clearly mentioned
whether the blog is of blogger or wordpress or whoever. What cornell has suggested
also is marginally useful as lots of other sites are there.

Sulz, the govt has blocked blogger.com after the Bombay bomb blasts in which
    over 200 people died

In blogger, just typing India sites opens up a whole plethora of sites. Since
wordpress is much better in a variety of ways, I hope the powers that be shall
consider this tiny feature. Birds of the same feather flock together and it is
natural to want to interact with your countrymen. This would be so for most foriegn blogs

In India, we have a peculiar situation. Since they cannot match the facilities of
wordpress or blogger, they do not allow to type the url of the blog with the result
interaction with other blogging platforms becomes impossible. If one mobile phone
provider only allows the phone calls of his service, would that not be a strange
situation? I don’t see why it should be any different for blogging.

    Thanks again and Regards.

Blogshares’ listing is for the general Blogsphere, not just WordPress.com. Actually, for some reason, Blogshares appears to not be picking up many WP.com blogs which may be a good thing.

Wasn’t there someone a few months back here and he was blocked from China I think but he or someone said they should get a new proxy or browse anonymously on the web which would give them a new IP number?

mypyp: wow, i am so not aware of that – if i studied current events, i would fail so terrifically… it sucks in india right now huh, with the curbing of your net freedom and all. hope you manage to find some indian blogs. (is this issue got to do with the fact that some indian-centric blogs have been featured in the fastest growing blogs and at one point top blog recently?)

  • Unknown's avatar

No Sulz, its got nothing to do with that. Most of my posts are india centric and so, it helps to know Indian blogs.

Using key words like the names of cities in India (Dehli, Bombay, Calcutta) will be helpful if they have been used as tags.

When blogspot was blocked, one could access old blogs through http://www.pkblogs.com/blogname

Pelase see if it works for blogger too.

    Looks like it’s just blogspot.
