Action Bar Feedback
-
You’re welcome! Thanks for saying thanks. :)
One of my followers is very upset as he reblogs all of my posts.
It’s not exactly the same, but have you tried suggesting the Press This bookmarklet to them? It might help:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/press-this/Seriously you got non-employees testing and they did not mind an annoying pop-up.
Decisions are also based in data and observation and design experience in addition to considering feedback like that. Sometimes feedback is split, or very biased even, and so it should not be the only consideration.

@dandelionsalad
Thank you for the link provided it was very helpful in understanding.
And from the short read I can only find a hand full of real commenters. Shameful but I get it. Thought I might be nitpicking here. And there is still a way to the old stat page? God I miss that one! that would be the one without all the menu crap right?
“Decisions are also based in data and observation and design experience”
Data isn’t everything when it is your only option. Design experience is not the same as users experience.
I know use of heat maps that show button use is handy but was the one a editor or just a reader at first. The difference has a great impact on what page they are at from the start and the button combination after.
This is getting off-topic.The bar loses a lot of its use in combination of the new reader. (don’t like either) It does not show there, there where a decision of re-blog is made a further read of the blog in total whether to follow is a second click. The report can be done from the reader I presume that is where we read it first.
Theme wise is just people unable to make a choice but I give one that.
When it comes to bin sites I follow is a monthly task done perfectly from my dashboard. And if you need it often you might be following to much.
The use of customize button is an feature that should not even be there. It is bit an odd thing. The theme is set before hand to be perfect. It would only make seance if you use the theme button. But that could also redirect you straight to the customize page.Just some feedback. On picture not only focussed on the bar.
I get the point on the matter that a large numbers of factors are in place.
Thank you for your time. -
And there is still a way to the old stat page?
For the classic stats page: https://wordpress.com/my-stats/
For the really old stats page, insert your blog’s URL into this link: https://YOURBLOGHERE.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats

Has the “new” Action Bar replaced this Edit button?
@dandelionsalad, I’m back to follow-up on this question for you. I found that the answer is yes, the Edit link has now moved from its old location in the top toolbar to its new location in the action bar, and it only appears if you are viewing an individual post or page while logged in as someone who has rights to edit it (of course, that last part works the same as it did before). So far, it is getting more use in the new location!
-
Thanks for answering my question about the Edit button being eliminated from the My Sites menu.
More scrolling, more time, less efficient.
I am convinced that the WP developers/designers do not use WP as we bloggers do.
“… getting more use in the new location.” Well, compared to what and when? It’s new, people are going to click on it. The old one has been removed, so we cannot click it, can we? Unfortunately for most bloggers the Edit button goes to the Beep, Beep, Boop less functional Editor and they do not even know how to get to the classic editor.
Thankfully, I use a “work around” that works every time to use the classic editor for both new posts and editing.

To think not so long ago they cluttered the ‘My site’ menu now they undressing it again.
As when one is just reading I get the changes. A part of it.
Though when you are blogging you use a complete different approach. The many layers within WP might have made them loose sight of the bigger picture. It is why confusing names pop up. Ideas like this bar are made and a revamped reader.
Maybe it is us over thinking things GRINBut getting off topic again lol
-
@amzolt, here is the blog post I made with the different ways to get to the WP-Admin and also the work arounds by another blogger (link on the post), and screenshots. https://dandelionsalad.wordpress.com/2015/04/01/how-to-use-the-classic-editor-on-wordpress-com-blogs-and-never-see-the-beep-beep-boop-editor-again-by-lo/
-
@rantingcrow, WP is making these changes for mobile and tablet users (portrait style) which is good for those users reading WP blog posts, however, those of us who actually do write blog posts are using PCs (landscape style), some with large monitors and there lies a lot of the technical problems.

“… getting more use in the new location.” Well, compared to what and when? It’s new, people are going to click on it. The old one has been removed, so we cannot click it, can we?
Compared to the link in the top toolbar from before the change was made. These are things we look at carefully. Feedback is important, but it’s also balanced against data and stats.

You’re welcome, amzolt. Hope it helps you like it did me. I use the Greasemonkey user script for Firefox, but penguin made others to choose from. And it works very well.

hi,
and more “press this” button will not choose between primary and secondary site! this is called a missed … frankly are better elsewhere course!
no thanks …
Ray -
@raimanet, Press This was just a workaround suggestion. You can also use the reblog button on a blog directly—it is located just below the content—unless the author has removed it via their blog settings. If you reading the content to the end and the author of the post you are reading has not removed reblogs/likes, you should see it.
-
I would like to add the inconstancy that you created with this Bar.
We already know it does not work in the reader but if, as you mentioned, the data shows it is best below then why in the reader do we have to look back at the top but this time far right. Not to mention the reader has a rule set up to either use the new reader or direct you to the original.Different placements don’t help much in this case. This is an observation.
Either way after some tries I am feeling more annoyed by it after every use. One shiny penny from the crow on thoughts
-
as you mentioned, the data shows it is best below
I think you have misinterpreted! Let me try to clarify. There are plans to redesign reblogs to make them work better in the future. The reblog button was not performing well in the top toolbar (the gray one that appears on sites directly, not the Reader). I didn’t say “the data shows it best below,” but I did point out that that is where the reblog button is currently located (and it was always located there in the past too) for those who are having trouble finding it for the moment.

What would make the “new” Action Bar better would be to have a link to the Stats for the particular blog post(s). Right now for older blog posts we have to go to Published, search for the title, then click the Stats button.
