  Today, after buying a domain I received the following email:

  Dear Valued WordPress.com Customer,

  We noticed that you need to verify your email address. To do so, simply click the button below. You will not be asked to log in to your WordPress.com account — we are simply verifying ownership of this email address.

  Without timely verification, you can’t fully manage your domain, and we’ll be required to put any hosted content on hold.

  It is a genuine email.

  ICANN rules now require verification of emails associated with domain registrations.

  Not a scam and nothing to worry about.
