I’ve spent hours trying to figure out how to get the menus I’ve made show up on the page. Can’t find anything that’s helped. Suggestions?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, Sheila!
I took a look at your custom menu builder, and I’m not seeing the menus you created.
Here is a link:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/If you need more assistance with this once you follow the instructions in the menu link, let me know! I’m more than happy to take a look once there is a saved menu in the menu builder!
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Thank you, but that’s not the site I’m working on. It’s my sheilalowehandwriting.com site.
Now I have 2 menus showing at the top and 1 on the bottom, and i have no idea why or how! -
Hey again,
Unfortunately, because sheilalowehandwriting.com is self-hosted with a different provider, support staff at WordPress.com do not have access to your site’s files or the ability to provide support for your current issue.
You can find support for your self-hosted WordPress site here:
If you need professional help for your self-hosted WordPress site, please check out these sites:

So sorry I can’t be more helpful. If you ever have any WordPress.com-related questions, I’d love to be of assistance.!
Thanks much.

I’ve just managed to solved the problem–apparently, you have to first create the pages before you create the menus.

Aha! Thanks for letting me know, Sheila. That’s great information for others who might have that question.
Cheers!

Since I paid $99 to Word Press, I wonder what that counts for.
And I paid for a theme, but put it on the wrong site. Now I want to de-activate it and put it on the right site, but am getting no response to my email questions. It’s all very frustrating. -
Hey Sheila,
You haven’t paid your $99 yet…but you have added the Premium trial to your site, which means you will be charged $99 after the two-week trial is over.
I think the confusion lies in the fact that your site (www.sheilalowehandwriting.com) is self-hosted, but you added Premium to a WordPress.com site. The upgrades added at WordPress.com do NOT apply to self-hosted sites on third-party servers.
If you’d like, I can cancel that Premium trial for you, so you won’t be charged.
To clear up the differences between sites hosted at WordPress.com and sites, like yours, hosted on outside servers:

Thanks, I’m really confused now. Are you saying the $99 is for hosting (which I don’t need and yes, please cancel)? If not, what does it get me?
My other big question is about the $39 theme I definitely paid for. I installed it on the wrong site (www.sheilalowehandwriting.com)., so need to know how to de-activate that site and re-activate is in the right place: http://www.sheilalowe.com/QuestionedDocuments

Sheila,

The $99 buys you the following features on a WordPress.com site:
http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/You need to decide if you are going to host your site here, or on your other server. It’s up to you. If you are hosting elsewhere, and don’t plan to maintain a WordPress.com site, then there’s no need for a WordPress.com upgrade.
If that is the case, let me know and I’ll cancel the Premium trial.

You bought that template for your WordPress.org site. You didn’t buy it here at WordPress.com. The $29 template you mentioned seems to be a self-hosted site theme. Self-hosted sites and WordPress.com sites are not related. If you need help with that theme, you’ll have to contact the company from which you bought it. You didn’t buy it at WordPress.com. Or, you can contact your website’s host (also not WordPress.com).
Again, let me know if you have other questions. Thanks!

I plan to continue self-hosting, so please do cancel the $99.
Are you saying the wordpress.com and wordpress.org are different? I thought I was paying WordPress for the theme for which $39.99 was charged to my account for Catch Theme Pro Responsive (I may have the words switched, but I do know what I paid).
I’ve emailed the theme creator twice and have gotten no response. I don’t want to pay again for the same thing. Any ideas? -

I’ve taken care of this for you.
Are you saying the wordpress.com and wordpress.org are different?
They are. WordPress.org is the home of the open source WordPress project. There are all sorts of support materials there. You can also download WordPress for a self hosted site from there.
WordPress.com is a hosted version of WordPress. The article Robyn linked to earlier explains the differences in detail.

When you purchase a theme for a self hosted site, you pay the theme developer directly. That transaction doesn’t involve WordPress at all.

Contacting the company that sold you the theme is the best option. Do you remember the URL of the site where you bought the theme?

Thank you for your help on this.
As for the theme I purchased, it turns out that the creators are in Nepal, so are dealing with horrendous problems.
