Activated sharing buttons not showing

Hi, I activated three sharing buttons to show up at the bottom of my posts yesterday – PressThis, Facebook and Twitter. I saved the changes, and they all show up in my site admin pane as having been activated, but they’re not showing up on the actual blog. I’ve tried choosing a different theme in case the one I’m using doesn’t support that feature, but it still doesn’t work.
Is there something I’m doing wrong? Thanks!

Hi,
Have you reviewed your “Show Buttons on” settings? Maybe the options selected there are not the ones you’re looking for. These settings are in the same place where you’ve configured your sharing buttons (WP Admin -> Settings -> Sharing) -
Hi again, I just checked and the boxes are checked for ‘show buttons on’ both posts and pages. So I don’t think it can be that…?

Thanks! I checked all the way through that. It seems to be a slightly old link as the system has changed – you no longer click to add or edit buttons, but simply drag and drop them to the ‘sharing’ area. I’ve done that, and they appear on the preview, but not on the actual post. I’ve done everything else mentioned.
I’ve just gone in to one particular post (‘Shapeshifters’) and re-set manually to ‘show sharing buttons’, which has made them show up – but it would be nice not to have to do this on every individual post!

Just wondering if there’d been any further progress on this?
As mentioned above, I can activate the sharing buttons individually on each post by going into ‘edit post’ and checking the ‘show sharing buttons’ box, but I can’t seem to find a way of activating them on all posts on the blog. It would be really helpful if there was a way of doing this as I’d like them to appear on each of my posts.

I’ve been trying to find another post in the forums with a similar problem but haven’t been successful. I’ve tagged this post for WP staff attention, so hopefully they’ll answer soon.

thanks so much! And fingers crossed this *seems* to be working now. I just posted and the buttons showed up without me having to check the box manually. Hopefully that’s cured…!

Hi Fiona,
To give you some more history, by default the “Sharing Buttons” checkbox is checked. The setting is then controlled by the global sharing settings.
For example, if the checkbox on the individual post was checked but was disabled in the global settings no button would show.
However, if the checkbox on the individual post was unchecked and then the global setting was turned on later you’d need to go back to that post to update the sharing settings before the buttons would show.
At this time there is no bulk way to edit the sharing setting on individual posts.

Many thanks for the explanation. For some reason the global button seems to have got switched off (or perhaps never switched on in the first place since I’m “re-using” an older blog!). Now that I’ve switched that on, new posts are showing the sharing buttons, and I’ll go back and edit any older posts that might be important.
