Activated Theme not superseding previous theme

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m trying to work with the “Shoreditch” theme, but the Rivington theme layout and content is, for some reason, stuck to my site. I have been trying to get the Shoreditch template to apply for a couple of hours with no success. Instead, I just see a white version of Rivington. Is there a way to clear the cache for themes? Other solutions?

    Thank you.

  • Hi there,

I can confirm that Shoreditch is properly activated on your site.

When you activate a theme, is just enables the overall design. It doesn’t change the layout of the front page, as that’s controlled by the content added to the editor. So to have the layout match the Shoreditch demo front page, you’ll need to edit your front page, and modify the content to look the way you want.

Specifically in this case, you’ll want to enable Shoreditch’s Panel Page template – edit the front page, click on Templates, and make sure that’s set to Panel Page Template. Then edit the other pages on your site that you want to feature on the front page, and make sure they’re set as child pages of the front page. You do this under the Page Attributes section of the page editor settings.

You can find more details on this on the theme’s support page at https://wordpress.com/theme/shoreditch/

Let me know if you need any more help with this. Or if this doesn’t solve your issue, let me know what exactly you’re trying to do and I’d be happy to help you figure it out :)
