Activating a custom theme using FTP with GoDaddy
-
Hi All!
First, would someone mind confirming if I move from wordpress.com hosting to GoDaddy self-hosting, does this automatically switch me from .com to .org? If not, this may be my issue.
If so, I am having trouble finding my custom theme to activate once it has been uploaded to wp-content folder. I made to sure upload the actual folder (not the zip) but it is not showing as a theme option in WP. Are you able to advise what I need to do so that my theme can be activated?
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you move to Godady, Host Gator etc. with your hosting you would have a WordPress.ORG install and also FTP access

Thanks, auxclass,
I’m thinking that in order to gain the benefits of the .org features (like activating a custom theme), I still need to change my nameservers from wordpress.com to the GoDaddy nameservers?

Correct

Great, those were actually updated yesterday so now I am unable to figure out why my custom theme is not showing as an option in WP to activate. I am pretty sure I uploaded correctly using FTP.

You need to get help with your WordPress.ORG install at WordPress.ORG
Also you can’t log into your WordPress.ORG installed blog here at WordPress.COM
