Activating a New Theme

Can I activate a new theme without disrupting my current theme?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Yes.

You can quickly and easily change themes to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.

Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes and browse themes until you find one you like and click “activate” or type in the name of the theme you want to use and
click the “activate” link when it appears.

After you change your theme all you need to do is go here Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets and re-install them where you want them to appear. The widget contents and settings will be the same as they were prior to changing themes.

Thanks, so “activate” will make it go ‘live.’

Thanks so much – loving the preview and thinking I will make the change, however I have two important questions:
I’m going to add a static page (splash) which Nishita allows me to do, however, where do my blog posts and widgets go which are currently on the first dynamic page of Mistylook.

How can I alter this in Mistylook so when I activate Nishita, they will ‘have a ‘home.’

You can see my current site at tuccicursive.wordpress.com

    Thanks so much,
    Liz

You can create a static front page on any theme here. If you do not want all the published posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. To do that create two pages first http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

    Set the Homepage
