activating akismet??
-
I followed the installation directions on how to install PHP5 version of Akismet and uploaded the akismet files to my ftp but there must’ve been an implied step that I don’t know of. Do I need to activate the key or is it already activated?
I have this error:
Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: akismet in /homepages/xx/mycontactform.php</b> on line 306line 306 is part of another script in the same php file as the Akismet script.
here’s line 306: $domainAlias=”http://myanonymousdomain.com/
Btw I uploaded all the documents to a folder called “plugins” under where my contact form is located if that matters.

I think you’re in the wrong forum. If you’re uploading files and plugins to your blog, you must be self-hosted using the WordPress.org software; we can’t use plugins and Akismet runs automatically on WP.com blogs. If you go over to http://wordpress.org/support/ they should be able to help you. Or you might want to have a look at http://akismet.com/

The API key you need to activate the Akismet plugin can be found here in your wordpress.com user account profile.
