Actor Profile database help please!

  Hi guys,

  I am new to WordPress and would appreciate some guidance on what I am trying to achieve. I am trying to design a website which contains actor profiles. I would like to lay it out in such a way where you can scroll down the page and look at an actor’s profile picture and beside that a little bit of personal info on their biography. Ideally, I would like to have sections for hair colour, eye colour, height etc. This would be a great start.

  Also, if it’s possible. Could I provide these actors with individual logins and give them the power to update their own profiles? If this is possible, can you point me to a guide somewhere? I would really appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you!

  It definitely sounds like you want WordPress.ORG, not WordPress.COM for this. It’s possible to do it here using Categories and/or Tags for the personal attributes like hair colour, etc, but it would be a really challenging thing to keep control of.

  As for having your actors updating their profiles, take a look at user roles:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/

  That part is certainly possible with a free WordPress.com blog / site.

  Wow thanks guys. Post only up a few minutes and already two replies. Terrific! @raincoaster – perhaps wordpress.org is the answer then? Not sure what the difference is.

  @timethief @1tess – thank you very much for this! I do plan on using webhosting but at the moment I haven’t published anything online. I am currently using localhost and then plan to upload to my website when I have it set up and at least functional. I am new to WordPress and web design so perhaps I’m trying to bite off more than I can chew! Appreciate the help thus far. Blimey you guys are quick!

  Since you are using Local Host you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.
