  What are the ways to have an ad free site?

  Does having your own domain (hosted elsewhere) make a difference? Does having your own hosting (hosted elsewhere) make a difference?
  Does using WP.com vs. WP.org make a difference?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Yes you can pay WordPress.com for an annually renewable NO-Ads upgrade as I do for my free hosted WordPress.com blogs. The upgrades can only be purchased for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and not for WordPress>ORG sites.

  You can read this and note that you can run ads on self hosted WordPress.com blogs. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  It entirely depends on the host of your WP.org site. Some do, some don’t, but almost all hosts are more expensive than the $30 a year it costs to take ads off your blog here.
