Ad-free

I’ve had a wordpress.com site (several of them, in fact, linked to the same free account, though there are only a couple I use regularly) for years. Lately the ads on them are starting to bother me a lot and I would really like my site to be ad-free! When I look at the $5/month level and try to click for more information, it promises my blog will be ad-free. But all I get is information about domain names (I already own a domain name that redirects to my WordPress site). I’m willing to pay a modest amount for my site to be ad-free, but how do I get this without getting sidetracked by a lot of unneeded info about domains?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

  • Hey there @trudyj65, the Personal plan includes several features, including ad removal, but you’re welcome to keep using the free address if you’d like.

While I could add an upgrade banner here that targets the site you mentioned, probably the simplest way to add the plan to any site is to go to https://wordpress.com/plans, select the site you want to upgrade, then choose the Personal Plan. I’ve done that for you for the site you mentioned, or you can clear it out of the cart with the X.

Also: you can choose monthly if you’d like, or pay for longer periods and get a significant discount.

Let us know if you need more help!

Thanks! When I tried upgrade by myself, I couldn’t get past the part about setting up a domain, but I see it in my shopping cart now so hopefully that will work. If I have further trouble I’ll check back here.

This worked perfectly, thanks! I now have a second question — if you have multiple sites attached to the same account, is there any discount available for getting the Personal plan on your second site, or is it the same price for the second as for the first?

  • Hi there,

We do not have volume pricing at this time. We have shared this feedback in the past however, and I’m happy to add your upvote since it’s a pretty popular request.

For the time being however, you will need to add the Personal Plan to your other sites at the standard price. For extra savings I do recommend our multi-year plan options, which have a higher up-front cost, but do save you a considerable amount when compared to re-upgrading every year.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
