Ad-free option
-
Hi there.
Have just published site/blog and wish to purchase No Ads option; however the relevant page – https://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/no-ads/ – just takes me to bundle options/plans: https://wordpress.com/plans/84054857I don’t want a bundle or to upgrade my plan. I simply want to purchase the No Ads @ A$39 but every reference I find to this option now loops back into plans.
Thanks for your help on this.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi megsmck,
That option used to be available, but isn’t anymore, unless you started your wordpress blog before a certain date that I don’t remember (one of the regular forum volunteers might step in with that info), but maybe a year or more ago—those users are ‘grandfathered’-in and can still choose the No-Ads option without buying the rest of the package. So if you recently signed up, you do have to purchase the whole bundle in order to get the No-ads…Sorry about that, I wish it were still available!

Sept 1, 2014 was the you are special date – accounts opened after that need to buy the special Cable TV Bundle style package pricing –
The only workaround is if you have an older account you can use to purchase the individual upgrades or if you have a very trustworthy friend with an older account you could add them to your blog and they could buy the upgrade for you – note the part about “trustworthy” as an Admin can trash your site
the change was not very popular

Ah, okay then. The friend who’s helping me out set his site up a while ago so I guess he wasn’t aware of the change.
He’s an admin on my site so maybe that’s a workaround. Otherwise I guess I’ll have to go the full Foxtel.
Thanks so much for the advice!
