Ad Pop Up

  When viewers go to my blog, they are seeing a pop up ad that says:
  “Congratulations!
  General communication inc. user! You have been selected as the lucky user of today’s iPhone 8, PlayStation 4, or Samsung Galaxy 8.
  Please click ok to claim your prize before we give it anyone else!”

  The only option is to “close” which takes you to another site. This comes up every time someone tries to access my site. Please help resolve!

  Hi, please tell us on what device your site is being accessed when viewers see those ads. Are they on mobile or a PC?

  In general, WordPressdotcom does not serve pop-up ads on any website hosted with them. If viewers are seeing such ads, it’s possible their phone or PC might be infected with malware/adware.

  Hi carlsongirlsak,

  I’ve visited your site but haven’t been able to see any pop-up ads. A screenshot of the ads would be helpful if you are able to send one:

  Please include as much of the page as you can and upload the screenshot to your Media Library.

  As @justjennifer mentioned, it would also be useful to know which device you are seeing ads on. Also, do they appear when visiting your site directly? Or when clicking on a link to your site from elsewhere like Twitter or Facebook?

  Thank you for the responses! The pop-up is occurring only when people access the site on a phone I believe. I do know that when they google the site, then click on the link, it works from there. So I believe the problem is occurring when people try to access the site via Facebook or Instagram.

  Hi carlsongirlsak,

  When did you last see the ads? We made some changes a couple of days ago that should stop them being displayed.

  If you haven’t done so already, please restart your iOS device, clear your browser cache and let me know if you are still seeing any ads.
