Ad Removal and Upgrade

  • Unknown's avatar

If I upgrade to premium and get rid of my “free blog” does this automatically remove ALL of the advertising in my posts? I recently discovered that the main body of the posts are being loaded with this tripe and I find it annoying.

Assuming I make the switch to premium to get rid of the ad’s, will it apply to ALL OF MY POSTS or just from that point on (day of the upgrade)?

I understand why they are there (revenue for WP), I just don’t want them, and I have over 1,700 posts which would be virtually impossible to do over.

    Thanks,

Short and sweet; if you upgrade to Premium, there will be no more Ads on your site. See this article for more about free vs. Premium and Ads: https://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/

Thank you for your reply. I will follow the link and check it out, hopefully I can make a solid decision on what to do with this issue. If it is not too much trouble, again:

“Assuming I make the switch to premium to get rid of the ad’s, will it apply to ALL OF MY POSTS or just from that point on (day of the upgrade)?”

    Thanks again,

Purchasing a Premium upgrade bundle means all WordPress.COM placed ads will be gone from the whole blog ie. from all posts. The footer credit links will remain. Premium bundle details http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/

    10. Advertisements. Automattic reserves the right to display advertisements on your blog unless you have purchased an Ad-free Upgrade or a VIP Services account.

    11. Attribution. Automattic reserves the right to display attribution links such as ‘Blog at WordPress.com,’ theme author, and font attribution in your blog footer or toolbar. Footer credits and the WordPress.com toolbar may not be altered or removed regardless of upgrades purchased. https://en.wordpress.com/tos/

Thank you for your prompt reply, I appreciate it. I believe I know where I am going with this, just one more thing. “Assuming I make the switch to premium to get rid of the ad's, will it apply to ALL OF MY POSTS or just from that point on (day of the upgrade)?

    Thank you very much,

I already answered that. All ads placed by WordPress.COM, wherever they have been placed on your blog by WordPress.COM, will be removed from the whole blog.

Okay timethief as requested I am “over here” hope this is the right place?

Updated the site to Premium and took a 14 day trial for the savings, which is a good thing. How long will it be before the ad’s are removed from my site?

    Have a nice weekend.

Should disappear withing a few minutes

    However

I recently discovered that the main body of the posts are being loaded with this tripe and I find it annoying.

That does not sound like WordPress.COM ads, you might also have an infected browser. Also if you are logged in and visit your site, you should not see any ads. The ads are removed for all logged in users unless the site is running WordAds

I first noticed them from someone else’s computer, never had seen them before. There can be 8-10 of them inserted into the body of the post.

Having recently checked I see that even after the upgrade they are still there?

    Kind of nuts, huh?

  • There can be 8-10 of them inserted into the body of the post.

Are these sort of like links you hover over to see the ad? If so, we definitely don’t run ads like that.

These ads are likely being inserted by a browser extension. Please deactivate all of your browser extensions or add-ons, and then reactivate them, one-by-one, until you identify the one that is inserting the ads.

These sites have further explanations and suggestions for eliminating the ads:

macmanx it was suggested that my browser was corrupted, so I completely rebuilt that and then I upgraded to a prem. page setup, and all of it just went away.

I am now sure you are correct, as the ad’s are just as what was described and these two measures eliminated them.

    Thanks for the help,
