Ad space, .org, spam, & bluehost.com questions

    I want, like everyone else, to start a blog. At some point I will be selling ad space to vendors I have lined up. I *think* in order to do this, I need to host this myself using wordpress.org. However, the reason I am posting here is because off of this .com page: http://get.wp.com/ I have the option of hosting with bluehost. If I go this route I will have to use wordpress.ORG, correct?

    Also, this bluehost is offering for $5 a month both hosting space AND domain name. This sounds almost too good to be true. Can anyone weigh in?

    Lastly, is managing spam difficult? Where do I learn about that, and how to protect my site from hackers?

    You have to get a WordPress.org install to do what your propose to do as no blogger initiated advertising is allowed on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. I suggest you register a WordPress.org username account on the top right hand corner of this page http://wordpress.org/support/ and post you questions there.

    Akismet is built in to all WordPress.ORG installs – just enable it and go – that is the same anti-spam system used here –

    And as @TT has suggested above you want to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you will be using
