Adblock may be blocking visual html editor.
-
I tried to create a new post today and my visual editor was inoperable. After following all the forum instructions as far as cache clearing, force reloading, rebooting, etc… I still had no editor. I’m using Firefox 2.0.0.3 with several add-ons, including Adblock Plus version 0.7.2.4. After systematically disabling/enabling all the add-ons I found that Adblock was indeed the culprit, more specifically one of the filter lists I was subscribed to. If you are using Adblock (which I highly recommend) and have lost your visual editor for no apparent reason, this may help.
I forgot to write down which filter list it was but you can easily find it by clearing the hit statistics. While looking at the “Write New Post” page in your blog, open Adblock [Ctrl+Shift+A] and choose: “Filters” => “Clear Hit Statistics”. Then reload the page and search for which filter received the hit in Adblock. You can then delete your subscription to that filter or maybe just change the rule that’s causing the problem.
Hope that helps if anyone else is having the same problems.

Actually the adblocker in Firefox has come up a couple of times. That and the one in McAffee. (How ever you spell it) Usually for the file uploader though.

Thanks for posting that, tote. It really helped me. Although as it turned out it wasn’t Adblock that was messing me up, it was an add-on called DOM Inspector. Just F everyone’s I.
