Add a CNAME record to reset password with google
-
I’m trying to follow the directions here to add a CNAME record to reset my password – https://support.google.com/a/answer/47283 but the edit DNS records page doesn’t have the same categories that google requires. Any idea? I’m not a programmer – I just want to get my blog going with my custom email address. I didn’t even realize I had set a password in the first place! TIA.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi There,
Keegan here, WordPress.com community member, I would be happy to help.
To get your custom gmail address, please follow these steps – https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-email-through-g-suite/
You will see that you are on step 10 “add DNS records”.
Please let me know if this answers your question, or if you need further assistance :)

Hi there,
The fields are labelled differently – we use “Handled by” instead of “target”- but it is the same thing.
So if you’re in the DNS editor, you paste the first code in the first field, and the second one in the second field.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-dns/#adding-custom-dns-records
But as you’ve bought G Suite directly from us I can just click a button to reset your password for you. You don’t need to follow that complicated route. Please just reply to confirm and I can do it for you.

Hi, thanks for the help!
It looks like I did it correctly, (yay me!) but I didn’t reset the password fast enough and it’s expired. I’d appreciate it if you could do that for me.
Thanks.

Okay, we’ve sent you a new one-time password. Use that to log in, and then set a new password and accept Google’s terms of service. Then your email should start working.
