  I am looking at purchasing a domain name for $17. I want my blog to be private. It looks like to add that feature it is an additional $8 annually. Is that correct or what is the $8 fee? Will the number of users allowed to view my blog still be limited, or will this become unlimited?

  When you register a domain, your ownership details (including phone number and mailing address) must be made available by law.

  In this case, the $8 private registration legally elects a proxy to hold the domain, thus displaying their information.

  A private blog, as you’re referring to, is free and can be set as such via Settings -> Privacy in your Dashboard.

  Each and every upgrade is for a specific purpose and no other purpose. Each upgrade applies only to one blog and only for one year when they must be renewed. When you purchase private domain registration it simply means a whosis search does not turn up your identity and location.

  If you wish to have more than 35 private users then you have to purchase another annually renewable upgrade. Unlimited Private Users is a paid subscription that costs $29.97 per year, per blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/unlimited-private-users/

  Also note that purchasing these upgrades changes nothing else at all.
