Add a domain on free plan

  Can I register a domain on WordPress.com (free plan) without switching to a Premium or Business plan?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  A Premium or Business plan is required to register a custom domain on WordPress.com or map one you already own.

  Thanks for the response, geoffreyshilling.

  I referred to that link and I thought it’s impossible too.

  But still I can purchase a domain via https://wordpress.com/domains/ on my free plan for $18.00 / year.

  Isn’t that means I can purchase and map a domain to my blog?

  As your account is a few years old you might still be able to add a domain on its own, but new accounts can only register them as part of a plan.
