add a mapped subdomain to my already mapped primary domain

A while back I purposefully deleted a WP blog with the plan to add it as a subdomain when I set up the primary blog. That done, I’ve tried to follow the support document for adding subdomains that uses the mycat.com and kittens,mycat.com example. It doesn’t work. Do you have a suggestion for me please?
Deleting the older blog with plans to add it as a subdomain later was probably a very bad idea. I am now carefully reading through your support documents so that I fully understand all of the great options for WordPress.com and so I don’t make any more mistakes ! I’m very happy to be a part of the WordPress community.
I am hoping if possible to add the subdomain as follows: readdogs.howtoread.pro

You can still map it following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/
You’ll be making the DNS changes through Store -> Domains in the blog that howtoread.pro is mapped to: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/custom-dns/

I read the two articles that you linked above. I am lacking the confidence at this time to change the dns records on the subdomain, so I’ll keep your instructions and do more reading for future action.
