add a new site to my account

    Greetings – I’ve had a couple of blog sites set up over the years, and yesterday I tried to create a new one, but I’m told that in order to do that with my existing domain name, I have to ‘upgrade’ to a paid plan. I’ve NEVER had to do that before (WordPress DOT COM) – I’ve been following the steps, and keep getting stuck at ‘Let’s get your site a domain!’ …. is this something new, or am I doing something wrong? Is this something new, or am I doing something wrong? – Thank you for your feedback!

    hi there, when you are on the “Let’s get your site a domain”
    select the name of the site you would like to create, for example, mycoolnewsite

    Click on the gear icon “filters” the available options will show.

    Just scroll down a bit you will find a section just under the first two options with the name you chose .wordpress.com you will see “free” and a select button on the left.

    And you will be good to go from there.😎
