Add a side bar widget in Baskerville 2

I want to add a side bar widget in Baskerville 2, but when I open the customize widget menu, it only shows three footer widget areas, and says:
“Your theme has 1 other widget area, but this particular page doesn’t display it.

You can navigate to other pages on your site while using the Customizer to view and edit the widgets displayed on those pages.”

My blog is currently set so that the homepage displays my latest posts. Ultimately what I want is two sections:
1.) the mosaic/grid section which displays my latest posts with excerpts.
2.) A smaller side bar which shows a mini about me section, social links, follow button, etc.

    Any help is appreciated! :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Baskerville only shows the sidebar on single posts and pages. So you need to view one of those in the Customizer in order to manage that widget area.

Open the Customizer, and in the preview click on a page in your menu, or the title of a post on the front page. Then you should see the sidebar widget area.

2.) A smaller side bar which shows a mini about me section, social links, follow button, etc.

That is not possible, as this theme is designed to not show a sidebar on the blog page, and there is no way to force it to show that.
