add a staging feature

  Hello,

  i would like to be able to clone a site with all add-ons, contents and settings. The clone would be private by default. It would allow for testing things without messing with the live site.
  Then we should be able to push the changes to the live site.
  Make it a premium feature, maybe with a price per clone.

  That is my dream feature, make it real ;-)

  Do what we Volunteers have done for years now. Register an additional blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/ and set it to private, http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/. Then use the export/import feature http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-between-wordpress-com-blogs and use it for testing and/or backup of your main site.

  Thanks for your quick reply.

  I already did that but i think there are a few shortcomings with this process that could be solved by my proposition:
  – the need to pay for the same add-ons that are applied to the first site (for exemple: no pub, custom css and a premium theme) for what is basically the same site.
  – i may be wrong but i think the settings are not within the scope of the export/import feature. Not dramatic but annoying…
