  I don’t have the add audio feature above my dashboard where it says upload/insert

  The same upload button when posting (the one you use for images) handles all media types, including audio.

  On many tutorials there is shown an additional button specifically for audio. This should work better for my audio which, currently, I cannot embed in the post. It only creates a link that pulls people to another page to listen. I want the audio to be a file on the page so they can listen without leaving the page.

  Yes, in order to do that, you’ll need to follow this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/

  At WordPress.com, we do not have a separate button for audio files.

  Oh no! It worked, sorry… clicking ‘none’ as I added the audio file enabled it to imbed rather than create a hyperlink.
