add background image to post

    Hi. I want to add a background image to the text in a post. I’m pretty new to all this. I’ve added the image to my Media Library. Now I’m trying to insert the image code into a table html, but i’m not sure what part of the image code to use. I tried using the image url, but that didn’t work. Any help would be appreciated.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Inserting the image code into an html table will result in an image below, above, or next to some text. Is that what you want?

    If you really mean image as background to text, you need a totally different code. But you’re using a flexible-width theme: I can’t tell what exactly your idea of a (fixed dimensions) image behind some (non-fixed) text is.

    Thanks for your help, but I’ve decided it would be easier to just use my image editor to add the text to the background image. Then I can post the image (with text previously applied) to my blog. Simple is good, right?

    There is this helpful article, should you change your mind:
    http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/08/11/backgrounds-in-posts/

    It however, does not address the problem of having a flexible-width theme. A texture or gradient would work well…

    just a thought

    Thank you so much, 1tess. What a beautiful image! Very inspiring. I’ll give it a shot. But I’m confused about this ‘flexible-width theme’ thing. I take it that a flexible-width creates a problem. How so?

    1tess is using a fixed width theme which means the the content area will remain a constant width regardless of the viewer’s screen size.

    If you’re not using a fixed width theme then your content will expand or contract according to screen size. A full post background on a small screen will become just an inserted pic on a large or wide screen.

    @jhanajian2

    With a flexible width theme, If a reader makes his window wider, then the view of your blog gets wider. All the elements of your blog move in to fill in the space and unless you are very careful how they interact with each other the results could be not what you expected. (by the way, that is not my blog! thank devblog who you see on these forums. very smart and clever!)

    That was what panos was cautioning you about as well…
