  This is the simpliest method of moving my site to a self-hosted WordPress self-hosted site. I am troubled that FTP is not available. Please give me access this one time.

  No, that is not going to happen. This is how you export a WordPress.com blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

  Plugins cannot be added to a WordPress.com blog. Not even this once. Well, if you are accepted into the VIP program and pay the several thousand dollars, I’m sure they can install a plugin for you. Otherwise, you use the export function on the dashboard.
