add banner?
-
I have published works I would like to draw attention to. The site offers banners for your blog. Can I add one here? If so, how do I do that?
-
No, it’s against the terms of service to host banner advertising, even for your own books, unless you’re part of the VIP bloggers program (hint: VERY expensive). You are allowed one discreet text link per blog, that’s it.

Gotta admit that this is the grey area that comes up on occasion. Best bet would be to send in a feedback and explain the situation to staff with specifics and get feedback from them.
If it’s an actual book that you have written and have had published, I myself don’t have an issue with it as long as it wasn’t the main purpose of your blog and as long as you didn’t over do it. Scoby does it as a image of the book cover and an affliate link to amazon and (I forget the other site). That shouldn’t be an issue.
Those coupon links within your sidebar would probably be determined to be spam links though. Even if you’ve written the articles on those pages, that really not publishing.
I’m not staff though and they and I have disagreed on occasion as to what’s allowed and what’s not.

Scoble’s in the VIP program, remember. Staff have pointed to that several times when this comes up.

Re: coupon links on your blog http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/165546/how_to_find_coupons.html
Coupon Clipping Services: There are a number of coupon clipping services available on the Internet. You simply order the coupons you desire and pay a small fee for their service. These clipping services claim they are not selling coupons, but are instead charging for their service of clipping to reimburse themselves for their time. Please be aware that “selling” coupons is considered coupon fraud. Whether or not you choose to use their services is up to you. I personally do not endorse their services.
It seems pretty obvious that the blogger here needs to send in a feedback to staff regarding (1) the advertisement of his or her book on his or her blog and also regarding (2) the multiple coupon links found in the sidebar.
-
Agreed but he’s promoting a book that he himself has written. Slight difference than the general adverts one would fine in a sidebar.
-
Yikes! I didn’t realize links in the sidebar were violating rules! How do I send feedback to staff? If I am violating rules, I want to take care of it right away.
Thanks for the responses.
-
You may not be violating rules. Bloggers voluntarily answering forum questions aren’t in a position to make such a call. The thing to do is to seek staff advice on the matter as staff makes this call. On the top right hand corner of any blog page you will see a feedback button. Click the button and a pane will open where you can enter your message to staff.
Best wishes :)
Edit: Here’s a useful link about contacting staff

3 ways! First is through the “Feedback” form while in the admin of your blog. Second, is the “Support” tab in the forums here while logged in. Third, you send an email to support at this domain!

I sent an email to Staff. I’m assuming I will get an answer in my Gmail account? How long does it usually take to hear back from them?
-
Within a few hours, give or take. We’ve got some staffers in North America and some in Europe, so your feedback may fall between some cracks for a couple of hours, but they’re pretty proactive. Even if they don’t email back right away, it goes straight into the Queue to be dealt with.
-
As Mark once told me, “all emails get seen and dealt with as fast as we can” and I believe him!
