Add Comment input fields don’t show up on home page

The fields to add a new comment does not show up on my most blog posts on the main page unless the first one is added. There is only a tiny “add a comment” link near the top which most people don’t notice. If you click on a single blog entry link on the sidebar, the comments field DOES show up.

How can I get the comments fields to show up on my main/home page?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • The comments field only displays when you are viewing a single post (unless you are using P2, which is designed to mix aspects of the two). Even when setting your front page to show only one post at a time, it’s not designed to show the comment input fields.

    Okay, thanks.

What is P2? I’m very new to this.

  • P2 is a theme that’s designed to show discussions (or at least make them accessible) on the blog main page. You can see more about it here: http://p2theme.com/

It’s available on WordPress.com. Just go to Appearance > Themes and search for “P2.”

Just wondering. If I do the hosting on my own server, is there a way to do it without P2?

I guess I should clarify. In regards to your answer,”The comments field only displays when you are viewing a single post (unless you are using P2, which is designed to mix aspects of the two). Even when setting your front page to show only one post at a time, it’s not designed to show the comment input fields.”,

if I am hosting WordPress on my own server, is using P2 still the only way to get the comments field under each new post on the front page?

    Thanks
