Hi there @patricia9754 – Have you had a chance to look at the Shoreditch theme set up guide? https://wordpress.com/theme/shoreditch
I don’t see any menu at patricia9754.wordpress.com. Is that the site you need help with?

Thanks Jennifer ..you are right, that blog I dont need help on, it just came up in the box so I clicked it.
In any case, I have figured it out myself using several youtube videos and for anyone else with this issue…here are my notes I madePages vs posts
Posts are blog posts and can enable comments
Pages are a single page like ‘contact me’ or ‘about me’ page, no
comments, no blog. More static, informative. How to make a menu (I found using the Customize option in Themes not working well)
Go to the WP Admin at bottom left
Then in the Dashboard, go to Pages and Add New
Add title and write pages. Can add links, media, photos, etc
Add another page, and another etc. by ‘add new’
Hit publish. Then on Dashboard, go to ‘Appearance’ to ‘Menus’
Create one menu name it anything as a place holder as the name
doesn’t show up anywhere…call it HomeOn the left, will be listed all the pages you just wrote,
Check then all, click ‘ add to menu’Once added, you can rearrange, reorder, slide one under the other, or indent to make a waterfall, drop down menu.
For adding ‘posts’ as in a blog, add new posts then can click on ‘posts’ and add to ‘menu’ under a new PAGE called ‘blog posts’
Posts can be added immediately or schedule on the calendar to be posted later.
Posts can just show up on your main page or being grouped together as a blog. Posts are updated content as things change…pages more for static list of issues
When I did this, I got my ‘menu’ at the header line, with my ‘menu items’ which were really PAGES waterfalling underneath.
Also, in the Appearance part of the dashboard, I added widgets as Sidebars and Footers (3 of them) to add things like Follow Us social media icons, calendars, videos (WP doesn’t support mp3, mp4, mov, avi) so must post youtube videos by inserting the URL link.

Thanks for coming back and letting us know and for sharing your notes.
It’s always best to list the URL of the site you need help with because this support forum assists users of WordPressdotcom hosted sites and the guidance provided here may not be relevant to DIY WordPress.org sites hosted with an external hosting provider (e.g. Bluehost, Go Daddy etc.). More information about that at https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Cheers!
