Hi there, a zone record already exists for the domain and it looks like you’ve been able to register and map the domain.
Are you switching your hosting over to GoDaddy? If so, you can add an A record yourself in your Domain Management area.
If you have any trouble adding the record let me know and I’m glad to help.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I am switching my hosting over to GoDaddy. I am unsure of what to enter to add the A record myself.
The domain is http://www.openakarateclub.com and the ip address is 185.7.248.1.
The example shows A <subdomain> <IP>
I tried entering A openakarateclub 185.7.248.1 but this has not helped. I guess I am not understanding how to enter my A record so if you could help with that I would appreciate it.One more thing, I have changed the nameservers from NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM to ns69.domaincontrol.com and ns70.domaincontrol.com for GoDaddy but when I go into the custom DNS screen in WordPress I get the following warning “Your nameservers need to be set to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM for these DNS records to work.”
Do I need to change the nameservers back for the A record to work? All help is appreciated.

I get the following warning “Your nameservers need to be set to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM for these DNS records to work.”
You can ignore that warning. It means that custom DNS settings on that particular screen won’t work unless your name servers are set to WordPress. Since you’re bypassing that screen completely and going straight to your domain manager, you don’t need to worry about it.
I tried entering A openakarateclub 185.7.248.1 but this has not helped.
You actually need to go back into your Domain Management area to enter your A record, the place where you changed the name servers to point to GoDaddy.
You do that by launching the DNS manager, updating the IP address in the A record field, and saving the zone record. I went ahead and did that for you, as you can see here:

To do this I had to change your domain manager password temporarily, so feel free to set it back the next time you need to log in.
I’m now seeing your self-hosted site here: http://openakarateclub.com/
If you can’t see it yet, you may need to clear your browser’s cache or check again after a little time has passed.
Just let me know if you need further help.
