Add DNS record for rowporty.org.uk

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve tried to add a Zone Record for the domain rowporty.org.uk but it asked me to contact support. Could you please add the Zone Record for me?

And is this why my emails on this domain have stopped working now we’ve mapped the nameservers to WP? Will the zone record solve this problem?

    thanks

    Heya,

Your domain has a zone file all set for it. In regards to your email however, whatever email records you had previously will need to be re-set up here at WordPress.com.

In order to do that, you’ll need to reach out to your email provider and ask them what the MX records are in order to make your email work correctly. Once you have those, you can log in to your Dashboard and then go to Store >> Domains >> Edit DNS and add those to the DNS window, following the instructions which are just below that section.

If you run in to any issues, let me know (and please include any MX records and IP addresses which your mail providers give you!)

    Hi

I’m using gmail with google apps – but as it’s already set up, I can’t find where to generate the verification code on the google apps site. The records they show are:

    ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.
    ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.

    Can you help?

    cheers

    Osbert

Did you already have Google Apps email working for this domain? If so, then you should not need to validate it again.

If not however, then there will be a link asking you to validate your domain name. When prompted, select from the list “Other” (which is at the bottom of the list), and it will then generate for you the validation code which you can enter on the DNS page.

The MX records you provided are just slightly incomplete. MX records come with priorities. Your previous account will have them or it will show on your Google Apps interface.

You’ll need to enter your DNS entries like so, once you have the correct priorities for each entry:

    MX 00 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    MX 00 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    MX 00 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    MX 00 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.
    MX 00 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.

Where I’ve entered “00” each time, you’ll be given a priority to enter. Just copy and paste that into your DNS window and after 1 to 48 hours for propagation to occur, your email will start working fine!
