add external widget code to website
-
Hello, can someone help me add a code for a widget from an external website? I`m not sure where to copy/paste the code to as that is what is instructed by the site. It is javascript – will this possible to add to my css stylesheet?
I have tried the following already:
1/ copy/paste code into css stylesheet – didn
t/wouldnt save
2/ copy/paste code into a Text widget and added to a side footer – only the title and a link showed up on footer – not the intended image
3/ tried also an Image widget – this couldn`t work also as there is no URL.Any suggestions?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Also, I would like to place it in the middle of the two side footers. My site is: http://www.saltgypsy.com

Hi. No JavaScript is allowed on WordPress.com, no matter what upgrade you have.

Don’t try adding it to your CSS StyleSheet, it won’t work. CSS and JavaScript are two completely different things and they don’t even serve the same purpose.
May I ask what that code was for? Maybe there is a workaround or another WP.com-compatible widget that could do the same.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
It is for a weather/surf forecasting site: http://www.magicseaweed.com and I would like to look similiar to how it is on this site:
http://surfmadam.com/en/
underneath Bloglovin on the right-hand footer.thanks!

You could try one of the widgets here:
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/09/16/widgets-for-wpcom-5-weather/In addition, certain weather forecasting websites have image-based codes (no JavaScript and no Flash) which are as easy to insert as a regular image.

Similarly, I am trying to add code for Groupon widget. I see that there is a plugin from WordPress that should make it work, but I don’t know how to get it all together. Can anyone give me a step by step?

@crazycoffeemom: We can’t install plugins on WordPress.com.

If you need further clarifications, may I suggest you create a new topic please? (For the sake of organization.) Thanks. -
As well, blogger-initiated advertising is not allowed here. IF you must have ads, you must move somewhere other than WordPress.com.

The widget I wanted to use is not intended for advertising purposes but thankyou for the heads up.

@fruitykiwi0891
What exactly is this widget for ie. what does it do? I’m asking because we may have another one that accomplished your purpose or we may know of a workaround that will be useful. -

Timethief: the widget is for a surf forecast that updates daily on your site. I wanted to add it as my site is for female surfers and thought it would be a useful feature.
Raincoaster: crazycoffeemom was wanting Groupon widget.
Thanks for the words everyone but I`m putting it in the too-hard basket and leaving it for now.
