Add Instagram Widget
-
Hi, I am trying to install an Instagram widget. I found a website to help me but it says I need to go to Plugins on my WordPress. Whenever I go to plugins it gives me no options only an option to upgrade my account to add businesses to my website.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I am a volunteer and maybe I can help.
You could try getting the widget code from Instagram and putting it into a plain text widget. Here’s a handy article on doing that:

@vanessaparrilla
The Instagram widget allows you to display your latest Instagram photos in your site’s sidebar and the guide for setting up the only one that will work on a wordpress.COM hosted blog is here https://en.support.wordpress.com/instagram/instagram-widget/
Also, note this support doc
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibilityIs your Instagram account public? Or is is private, and therefore, blocked when it comes to display of images in the widget on your blog?
This particular widget needs to be authorized using the WP admin widget page rather than the customizer. If you go to Dashboard > Appearance> Widgets from the WP Admin dashboard and authorize the widget from there, you’ll have much better luck. From: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/instagram-widget-wont-authorize-access?replies=9#post-2333822
The Admin login link for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/*All you need to do is replace NAME_OF_BLOG with your actual blog name in the URL.

thanks, @timethief!
@vanessaparrilla – @timethief’s advice is far better than mine, which makes sense, since she’s been doing this for far longer than I! :)
Let us know how it goes!

@timethief @catscholz Thank you both so much for the tips. I have figured it out with @timethief ‘s advice. You were both very helpful thank you. If you know how to make it go across the bottom of my blog instead of a section that would be great too. If not it looks great how it is too.

you’re welcome, @vanessaparrilla! doing my best with what I’ve got here.
@timethief, correct me if I am wrong and if you are willing, but if her theme’s footer is widgetized (like mine is – see this screenshot: http://grab.by/Or8m), then she could put her instagram widget into a widgetized footer area (and if it is full width, the instagram data would display across the full width of the bottom of her blog).
Here is an article that explains more about customizing widgets in widgetized areas:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/However, looking at her current theme, https://wordpress.com/themes/edin/, like mine, it has 3 widgetized areas in the footer, each spreading 330 pixels wide, or a third of the page.
So if I am correct, if she wants a full width display of instragram content, she may need to switch her theme to one that has a widgetized footer area that is as wide as the page layout to achieve her goal.
Here is a theme that may work for this purpose:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/apostrophe/Hope this helps!

Hello vanessaparrilla!
Like @catscholz said, you can add the widget to a footer widget area. Let us know how it goes and if there is anything else we can help. :)
