add interctive map to wordpress blog eg google map

  Hi,
  I want to add an interactive google map (or similar application) to my wordprss.com blog that I can update with my current position while travelling. Is this possible?

  Step 2 says “Type in any street address or geographic location and click Search Maps.”

  This is not what I want. I require the ability to add labels to a position day by day to update my position and to allow the user to zoom in and out as I am cycling from Mexico to Argentina, this will allow them to follow the route locally or globally

  I can do this with the google map API but as this includes javascript, not sure that I can embed this? I am on a free wordpress blog.

  However, it would seem that such basic functionality should be possible?

  it’s the interactive part that is problematic. No you cannot use javascript because the software will strip it out. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

  There is a Google calendar workaround we can use here at wordpress.com and you can find it here http://helensnerdyblog.wordpress.com/2007/11/27/how-to-add-a-google-calendar-to-your-wordpresscom-blog-using-the-rss-widget/

  IMO needs can be better met by hiring a webhost and self hosting a free worpress.org install.
