Add "Like" button to home page of blog?
-
Hello. I have the “Like” button displayed on each of my individual blog post pages, but I could have sworn I saw somewhere I was able to make it appear also on the home page of my blog with the list of recent posts. Is this possible? I have gone through all the tools again but can’t find it. I do understand I can turn this off and on in Sharing and also in the edit window of each post. But it appears now folks need to click on the comment link from the home page in order to “Like” my post. I did try the support info and also searching the forums but couldn’t find anything that addressed this. Thanks very much for your time! R.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To get the display you want choose this option “posts, pages and index pages” on this page > Dashboard > Settings > Sharing
I can’t see the buttons on the front page.
Make sure to select “Posts and index pages” for “Show sharing buttons on” setting. -
Thanks for your quick reply! :) I have now changed to the “posts, pages and index pages” and the “Share” button does indeed now show on my home page beneath each of my recent posts there.
However, what I wanted was to have the “Like” button appear there. Is there any way to add the like button below my posts on the index or home page? Thanks again. R.

Sorry but I am new to this and don’t actually know how everything work. I really, really hope you can help me.
I am busy on another account but when I wanted to sign in, my password was incorrect, so I use the Lost Password option, then the program requested my username, but I didn’t receive anything so I tried it again, but then using my email address, the program then “said” there is no user with such an email address?!
How is that possible and what am I supposed to do now, I was busy with a website design and now I can’t go in there again.
Please, please help!!!!!

Well, thank you again for your time, but we seem to be having a miscommunication or else I am not understanding you. I have indeed reviewed all the material at the above link with care, but I understand I can still be overlooking something.
I DO have the “Show Likes on your posts” checkbox selected. The “Like” buttons do indeed show below the posts on the posts pages. However, I thought it might be possible to have the Like button appear below each post on the home page. There is no information on the Sharing or Like button support pages that I can find that tells me how to turn it on for the home page posts. (I did check all this information before I ever posted here for help.)
Perhaps it’s not possible, but as I said in my first post, I thought I had seen this option somewhere before. Thanks again. R.

Sharing buttons can be displayed on the home page by selecting “Posts, pages, and index pages” at Settings -> Sharing in your blog’s Dashboard, but unfortunately Like buttons are limited to the single post view at this time.

I’ve noticed on someone’s blog that they’ve got a widget to ‘like’ their correlating page on facebook. But no matter how much I try, I can’t find out the way to do it! Any suggestions?

@diaryofabakeaholic
There are two separate and different types of wordpress. If you are seeing the Facebook like widget on blogs then they are free-standing wordpress.ORG installs. They are not free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COMThe Facebook like widget code will display as is ONLY on wordpress.ORG installs. If you attempt to post the code for the Facebook like widget on a wordpress.COM blog, the software will strip the code out to preserve security on this multiuser blogging platform.
See here > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/You can post a Facebook badge if you wish. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-badge/

I’ve tried the facebook badge but I’m very picky! no worries I’ve added a link; didn’t know I had to pay for that.
Thanks for the quick reply :)

didn’t know I had to pay for that.
For the record there is no upgrade that one can purchase that enables them to post a Facebook like widget on a WordPress.com blog. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate sites. WordPress.COM software and WordPress.ORG software are not the same.

But you can put a Facebook Like on each post individually:

I’ve added the FB/Twitter share buttons to my blog, selected the posts, pages and index pages options and I notice the share buttons appear at the bottom of each blog post. Is there anyway to have them appear on the home page in the upper right hand corner?
