Add links between galleries?
-
I am using the FontFolio theme on WP 3.8.1 and have some questions about the gallery.
On my home page since this is going to be basically a portfolio site I have added a gallery with nine images. I have finally figured out getting the full size image to open when the thumb is clicked on the page.
Now the question I have is I have ~60 images total that I want to add to the site. I have added them all so I have all of the images ready to go.
How would I go about adding a second gallery page and have links on the page to go between the pages? In other words, if you are viewing the first page I would like a link to the second page. On the second page I would like a previous link to go to page one and a next link to go to page three.
Any ideas on how I can accomplish all of this?
Forgot and had to come back but the page is located at http://gmfarthing.wordpress.com/
Thanks in advance!

The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.
This site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/
The forum at WordPress.ORG is not connected to WordPress.COM so you will need to open an account at .ORG if you do not already have one. You may use the same email at WordPress.ORG as you do at WordPress.COM.
For more on the difference: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you are asking for help with a WordPress.COM site then we need a link to that site to give you accurate help.

I am using the FontFolio theme on WP 3.8.1
While you have links to a private WordPress.COM blog – WP 3.8.1 would be a WordPress.ORG blog

Also note when working with galleries on WordPress.com blogs I recommend going to justjennifer’s site at http://wp.me/p8gVp-L

@auxclass
Good morning :)@gmfarthing
Read this link that auxclass posted http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ and know my responses apply ONLY to WordPress.COM blogs. -
auxclass —– If you would look at the link I posted it says gmfarthing.wordpress.com so your entire diatribe that says to me that you do not want to help is useless.
timethief — Thank you so much for the response! I will check that out and see what I can do with it.

Holy crap. Can nobody on this forum read simple english?????
I know the difference between com and org. I am not running the software on another server, I am running it on the wordpress.com site.
-
Good then what I provided does apply. :) But please be patient with us Volunteers knowing I have spent 8 years answering questions here and some days up to 30% of my time has been spent directing WordPress.org bloggers to the support forums at WordPress.ORG.

I am sorry and thank you for your response and time. However it is very frustrating when the link says .com and I am basically thrown off (that is not your intention, I know but that is the way it felt when I have been working on this for about four hours myself).
Anyway this doesn’t really seem to apply since I am asking about splitting a gallery. So am I to assume that there is not a way to force a gallery split and I just need to create a post with all of the pics in the post? If that is true then how do I get everything into a grid?
Thank you and I am sorry about the rant earlier.

My difficulty in providing support is the fact that the blog is twofold.
(1) justjennefer excels when it comes to answering image related questions – I don’t.
(2) The blog is private and I cannot view it so I cannot do whatever you did in a test blog and fix it or try this or that to address your issue.NOTES: Every day we get people here referring to post when they mean pages and visa versa. Every day we get people referring to galleries when in fact they have not used this feature. http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/
I have tagged this thread for Staff though justjennifer may happen along before they do. I tagged the thread so it will not fall through the cracks and escape attention. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Sorry about the private. That was my mistake since I didn’t want search engines to hit it yet but I changed that…..
And don’t worry about the visually challenged. We all have days like that….

We read that you are “using the Fontfolio theme on WP 3.8.1.” Since we don’t have version numbers here, you must agree that was a bit misleading. :)
In any event, the best place to learn about using Fontfolio is on its Theme Showcase page http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/fontfolio/
The front page of Fontfolio normally shows Featured images that when clicked lead to their relative blog posts.Have you set up your site to have a static front page with your images on it? If so, you can create multiple Galleries on that same page and use Pagination between them.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/nextpage/As tt said, we’re at a disadvantage here because the site is marked Private, so we can’t really see what’s going on directly.
Regardless, if you need more help with this, please post back here.

Needed to refresh. :)
You can set your site’s Privacy settings to allow human visitors but be ignored by well-behaved search engines.
I’ve had a look now at your site. You indeed have added all the images to a single Gallery, but you don’t need to. You can create multiple Galleries on a single page as I mentioned above and use the pagination between them.

@justjennifer
Thanks so much for chiming in here. I appreciate it because after I read what you posted I knew that what I knew was correct. :) -
Sorry Jennifer, but since I cannot see a version number on the site I went with the assumption that WordPress would be using the latest version.
Anyway, I have set a static front page with all of the images in a gallery there. I didn’t know that I could use multiple galleries on the same page.
And the private should be taken care of. I wasn’t paying attention when I said to keep search engines from visiting that it made it completely private.
Thank you for the answer Jennifer, I will give it a shot…..
