Add links/hyperlinks in Category section

    Hi all

    Very possible that I’m being very stupid but hoping you can help.

    Because my posts are quite lengthy, in one of my Category pages I’ve written the direct links to click so that you can go directly to particularly articles, rather than scroll all the way through. However, I can’t seem to add these as links rather than just text.

    On the “posts” section it seems a straightforward case of just highlighting the text, but in categories, but when I go to edit a category all I can do is change the text.

    Hi there, from what I see on this page https://intotheterraces.wordpress.com/category/features/ you’ve added those hyperlinks to the Category description and AFAIK you can’t add links there, only text.

    Since Categories, Tags, Author, and date pages (and such like) are all automatically generated by the software, you can’t change their behavior.

    However, the Twenty-Seventeen theme also gives you the option of displaying a post excerpt rather than the full post. You can change that in the Customizer’s Content Options.

    There is another way to do this.

    You can create an index page for your category (by creating a regular page), adding the links you want and then link that page in your site navigation using a Custom Menu. https://wordpress.com/support/menus/create-a-menu/#create-a-menu-in-the-customizer

    However, if someone clicks on your Category, Tag, etc. in your post, they’ll be back at the regular archive page created by the software.

    The other downside to this is that each time you publish a new post in that category, you’ll either need to manually update the index page, or you can use the Display Posts shortcode. https://wordpress.com/support/display-posts-shortcode/
