add media

I am trying to upload an image (photo jpg) but it says upload limit exceeded. Maybe I have 2 options? Buy more storage space or delete current photos stored. How do I proceed?

Hi Barry!
When using the WordPress media uploader you are limited to files 1MB in size, including images. However, there are a couple of ways to get around this. For one, you can simply reduce the size of the image you are trying to upload, either by reducing the quality in your image editing software, or (and this is my personal favorite method) using an online image compression service which will decrease the file size of the image without sacrificing quality. The one I personally use most often is TinyPNG, and they support JPG images as well. The other option you have to bypass the 1MB upload limit is to access your site via FTP and upload the image that way. If you need any assistance using FTP to access your site directories to upload/download files, your webhost usually provides documentation and typically video tutorials on how to get started.
Hope this helps! :)
