add new site

I’ve been trying to set up a new blog site using my husband’s existing account. I already have purchased a domain name from GoDaddy but am having trouble transferring it to WordPress and setting up my blog. What do I do next?

Hi there,
Do you want to create the site hosted here with us on WordPress.com, or do you want to use the WordPress software on a hosting account with GoDaddy?
If you want the latter, you’ll need to contact GoDaddy support directly for help installing the open source version of WordPress on their servers. Help for that version of WordPress is provided by the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
If you want to create a new site with us on WordPress.com, go to https://wordpress.com/start/site/. On the domains step, select the option to use a domain you already own, and then either map or transfer the domain to us. On the plans step you’ll also need to select a paid plan.
Keep in mind that if you’ve only recently registered the domain, you won’t be able to transfer it to us yet. New domains are automatically locked for transfer for 60 days from registration, no matter where you buy it. So in that case you’ll only be able to point the domain to us for now, using the domain mapping upgrade to connect it on this end. Once the 60-day transfer lock is removed, you’ll then be able to transfer the registration to us if you want.
