Add option for "nofollow" on link editing modal menu

    The title is clear.
While we know that link relations have significant impact for SEO, adding an option for “dofollow” or “nofollow” would be useful.
Maybe a simple checkbox for “nofollow” is enough.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I’m a little confused: you don’t have a WordPress.com site, but a self-hosted WordPress.org site. So why are you making suggestions for adding a feature to WordPress.com? To make suggestions for the Core WordPress project, see here: https://make.wordpress.org/core/

If I’m not mistaken, it’s the auto-text “The blog I need help with…” that confuses you, right? Well, since this is an idea/suggestion thread, I guess the auto-text doesn’t apply :D

I do have a WordPress.com blog with a custom domain. And I didn’t set it as my main site, so… I think you got it already ;)

    Btw, thanks for the suggestion.

  • Ah, okay. Yes, I go on the link provided when you post in the forum. To avoid confusion in future, please always select the correct site’s link when posting in the forum, even if the issue is not directly related to your blog.

A change like this will most likely come from Core, so suggest it there anyway. Meanwhile, you can also add the rel=”nofollow” attribute directly to the a-tag using the html/text view in the editor. It’s a bit more work, but will give you the result you’re looking for.

I don’t think it’s in the Core. The modal option that I’m referring to is within WordPress.com dashboard, not wp-admin.

  • Do you mean the new editor? In that case you’re probably right. Staff monitor all the threads in the ideas forum, so they’ll see your suggestion in any case.

Yes, the shiny new editor :D
I hope the Staff read this.
    Thanks @kokkieh
