  Add poll in post with text or does the poll have to be a separate post?

  That’s not a free hosted WordPress.COM blog and we can’t help with it here. It’s a WordPress.ORG install. You are posting to the wrong support forum. The correct one is here http://wordpress.org/support/ Click that link and when the page opens register and account on the top right hand corner of the page.
