Add sidebar to blog page
-
Hi..a while back, I removed the sidebar from my blog page, but I would like to add it back, and I’m not sure how. What I would ideally like is, on my blog page, for the sidebar with my ‘coming soon’ titles to appear. Can I do that? Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Try going to your dashboard/admin menu. Choose Appearance, choose customize, choose widgets copy items out of the footer area into the sidebar area. This might not actually be a fix for your situation but a work around. I am not a staff person, just a blogger. You can put a textbox (found in widget tools if you drag it to the location you want it to appear, though if you do it there I think you will have to manually update it, though perhaps by now there is a widget that has that capability, there are tons!) I hope this helps you.

Your theme description page is here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/pilcrow/ Pilcrow has six possible layouts and up to four sidebars and widget areas. All widgets are installed and uninstalled here > Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets Also note that widgets have visibility settings that determine which pages they display on. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility -

Hi there…thank you both for your help. I am afraid I’m a little challenged when it comes to blogs and WordPress. I tried both your suggestions. I changed visibility to show on ‘blog’ but the widget is still not appearing. I go to my pilcrow themes, but when I change any of the layouts, it affects my home page too. I received some help a long time ago that had to do with CSS and using something to make the sidebar go away on my blog page. Now I would like it to appear, but even with your help, so far, I’m unsuccessful. Sorry to be so much trouble!

Oh! I’m so sorry I did not twig to that. Click this member link below your username please and locate the original thread with the CSS you refer to in it as you will have to remove it. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/sidebar-location?replies=10#post-1314802

Hi, to make the sidebar come back on the blog page, remove the following two rules from your custom CSS.
body.blog #content-box #main-sidebars, body.single #content-box #main-sidebars { display: none; } body.blog #content-box #content-container #content, body.single #content-box #content-container #content { margin-left: 0; width: 1005px; } -
Thank you so much. Your answer got me very close to what I need, but when I followed your suggestion, the feature area appeared on my blog page. I would love it if the Main Sidebar could appear on my blog page instead. If that’s not possible, that’s fine. Just thougth I’d try. :) Thanks again!

Check the widget visibility in the Sidebar and Secondary sidebar widgets and instead of selecting “blog” select “posts page” near the top of the list and then save. And of course remove the CSS I referenced above.

Awesome!!! That worked. Wow, you are a genius. Thank you so much, and I apologize for being so troublesome!

Okay, if you don’t mind, one more question. I just noticed that my main sidebar shows just fine on the main blog page. But, when I click on a specific blog post, it disappears. Is there a way I can make it show up on specific blog posts?
Thank you!

Hi, it is widget visibility again. Your Twitter and Archives widget have visibility on the home page only.
