Add simple calendar to footer or an "Events Calendar"
-
Dear WordPress Folks,
Cannot add a calendar to my site i.e simple calendar in a footer or an “Events Calendar.” I have been looking on various forums, however, can’t find solution. I’m using the “Suits Theme,” a free theme.
I would appreciate guidance….

Dear Timethief,
Wow…this looks pretty complicated…What about adding just a simple calendar in the footer. Nothing connected upcoming events?

What exactly do you mean by a simple calendar?
You can list any dates you want to draw attention to in a text widget.
You cannot install any JavaScript widgets. -
Why do you want to provide visitors with computer who already have calendars on their computers with one in your blog?
Are you aware of this calendar widget that highlights the dates on which you publish posts? http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/calendar-widget/ -
Lastly, you cannot embed anything into the footer of any theme without purchasing an annually renewable upgrade.

Dear Timethief,
I think you are absolutely right about drawing attention to dates in a text widget. I’ll give the calendar widget that highlights dates of post a go. Thanks of pointing all of this out.

Well I tired to add the calendar widget and nothing happens..will a picture of an actual calendar appear in the sidebar?

You have not published a single post yet and that is what the calendar widget displays provided you followed the guide here.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/calendar-widget/front page error message:
Nothing Found
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.By default the front page of the blog is the only page that will display all published posts on it. As soon as you publish a post not a page the error message will be gone. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
Know that search engines are focused on posts not on pages. Pages don’t have RSS feeds and search engine could care less about them.

Dear Timethief,
Thanks….yes, I need to complete my first posting. So I now understand that once I write a post the calendar will highlight the post. Right?
With regards and bows,
Jisen
