Add slideshow to sidebar

  I’d like to display my book covers in a a slideshow. IIs there a way to add a slideshow to the sidebar of my blog, without using one of the external programs? I want to use the WordPress slideshow, which I can use on a page or post, but it doesn’t worm on the sidebar. Any suggestions?

  Currently, the native WordPress.com slideshow can only be embedded in a Post or Page and not the sidebar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/slideshows/

  I do not know if 3rd party slideshows, like those mentioned here http://en.support.wordpress.com/tag/slideshows/ can be used in a sidebar, but maybe worth a try.

  Thanks, Timethief. I was trying to avoid adding those third party ones because they add the extra words at the bottom that publicize their site. I understand the reason behind it because they’re offering the product for free, but aesthetically I don’t like it. That’s why I was trying to find an alternative.
