Add theme option doesn’t show

    Hi I have recently purchased a theme from themeforest called NewspaperX and I really want to activate however it asks me to switch to a business account. I want to first create my website and them make it live… is there any other way to do this? If I hire a theme installer from envato.com or themeforest will I still need to upgrade to a business account?

    Hi,

    Custom themes do require at least the Business Plan. The Uploading & Setting Up Custom Themes support page says:

    In addition to the 100+ themes on WordPress.com, our Business and eCommerce plans allow you to upload your own custom theme. This can be useful if you’ve purchased a theme from elsewhere and want to use it on your WordPress.com site.

    Not really. You could create the site on a WordPress.com theme, either free or premium, and then activate the custom theme when you’re ready to. I’ll call for staff attention in case I’ve missed something.

    The only way to work on a custom theme with in the WordPress.com eco system is through the business plan. You’ll need to add that plan to your account in order to setup the site, on that particular theme.

    You could build the site first, using one of our themes, before connecting the domain or even upgrading. But it’s just not possible when using a third party theme option.

    Write back if you have any other questions. Keep in mind the business plan is refundable for 30 days too.
