Add users instead of invite
-
I want to be able to ADD users, but the only option I have is to INVITE them.

That’s correct. We must send them invitations to others and they must accept in order to make contributions to our blogs. If you’d like to invite others to publish posts or help approve comments on your blog, you can invite them to be a Contributor, Editor, or Author on your blog.

I run two WordPress sites. Sbrhsbreeze.org has the option to ADD users, while outoftheblue.wordpress.com only has the INVITE feature.
-
I repeat that here at WordPress.com we cannot arbitrarily add any users to our blogs. We must invite them and they must accept the invitation.
P.S. Thank gawd! for that because in former times I was added to blogs without my permission – blogs I did not want to be added to.

It’s not adding as you’re thinking. It’s creating accounts. Let’s put it this way. Sbrhsbreeze.org is a school newspaper, and it has the ability to create user accounts for the students that write for us. Outofthebluemag.wordpress.com is a site I would like to have that feature on also, because sending every member of our group an email, and having them have to register is time consuming and cannot be done.

That’s not possible here at WordPress.com. You can only do that on a self hosted WordPress.org install.
